The struggle is real…
From the perfect world that I imagine I come to understand that TIME is always the enemy. I wish there’s 40 hours in one day where we all do the normal stuff, but more hours spent with family and friends.
Raise your hand if you are with me!
I know, I know I sound ridiculous, but there’s nothing I could wish more than time and opportunity to get together more often. 😀
When the invitation to unwind, have a relaxing overnight night stay (or as we popularly refer to these days as staycation) to a resort NOT in Manila, I immediately said yes and brought a willing chaperone, my youngest daughter, Lily. 🙂
I thought to myself, this is the perfect time to spend a meaningful time with one of my daughters and promised that this will start a new family tradition. I’ll take each kid on a trip or an overnight stay, at least once a year, somewhere nice so we could spend an exclusive bonding moment together. Sounds nice, right?
We were invited to Club Balai Isabel, it’s right on the shores of the world-famous Taal Lake and across from its volcano.
It’s a beautiful place, their infinity pool gives you a good look of the Taal Volcano.
The place is very serene, it will instantly bring you peace and calmness away from the hustle and bustle of Metro Manila living.
The infinity pool is the most memorable place for me because Lily have been teaching me there how to streamline and do flutter kick. She never gave up until I truly learned it and when went home she was telling everyone: I finally taught Nanay how to swim, yes, yes!
Going back, when we arrived at Club Balai Isabel my daughter Lily was jumping up and down (sideways too), she never expected it to be this wonderful, imagine an outdoor pool stretching your eyes towards a volcano. She said, she thought this beauty only exists in pictures. 😀
The resort has a port, from the port we could sit for a while, have our drinks while we enjoy the great scenery and let the sunshine touch our skin.
It feels like this is the kind of thing everybody needs. A beautiful, creatively curated spots to chill out. A perfect place to just sit and stare blankly anywhere as loooong as you like.
Lily and I have been talking, we both thought that this is the perfect summer destination for our family this year and we made a pinky promise that we will bring Tatay, Ate Elise, Ate Isa, Kuya Ruben in this wonderful place soon.
Lily and I loved everything in Club Balai Isabel, the beautiful infinity pool, the clean, very spacious and well-kept rooms, the proactive staff that greets you good morning/afternoon everytime you crossed paths with them and not to mention the water sports available in the resort that you can try with your family too.
We tried jet ski and banana boat, since Lily is a bit small to ride the banana boat she went with the other kids to ride the speed boat that pulled the banana boat and she liked it she had a lot fun like us! 🙂

Oh wait, did I mention about the food, yet?
Wait until you see my food photos where we all had a chance to sit down, appreciate the creatively prepared Batangas specialty food.
Let me introduce you to Chef Rick. He runs the Kumintang Cafe. He served us his specialty dishes and secretly hopes his dishes will rock our palates. 🙂
You have to hear him talk, as he describes the beauty in each and every dish he prepared, the pride and genius resonates so deeply that it makes me think that the dishes that was served to us was made with all the love he has for his craft.
To the people who knows me, you know that cooking is one of my passions too, you can check my food blog again to be reminded http://joybites.com.
As each food gets served in our table and as he stands there to describe each dishes, I can already imagine how it will tastes like, all the flavors went swirling above my head. 🙂
These are the names of the food from top, Maliputo Steak, Tilapia Seviche, Oglio Olio, Bulalo Burger, Pumpkin Cappucino, Native Chicken Salad.
My personal favorites are the Maliputo Steak and Native Chicken Salad. I love them because of the simplicity of its flavors, it doesn’t kick, it blends (you know what I mean?). 🙂
Lily loves everything, she was whining in the middle of dinner because she was having tummy ache (because she ate too much) but she doesn’t complain about it, she was just sad because she still wants to eat more but runs out of space already. 🙁 She enjoyed all the wonderful food being served. 🙂 (Lily is a foodie too, she’s a brave little foodie, she’s always ready to eat spicy and exotic food, that was why not tasting all the food that night made her sad.)
Lily and I went home with a big tummy and beautiful stories of US together. She can’t stop talking to her siblings about the pool and the food. I promised them that we will go back soon so we could all experience the magic of Club Balai Isabel!
If you you are looking for a place to chill out, spend quality time with your family any time of the year Club Balai Isabel is perfect place! 🙂 Here are their contact information, please feel free to post your inquiries. 🙂
